Zappa – All About Music

"When a guest conductor comes to town, he is not usually giving a performance of something by a living composer. He's doing Brahms; he's doing Beethoven; he's doing Mozart–because he can warm it up in one afternoon and make it sound okay. This makes the accountants happy, and allows the audience to concentrate on his choreography…
Why is that any better then a bunch of guys in a bar band jamming on "Louie Louie" or "Midnight Hour"? [Worn-out classic rock they play every night.]
